How MUWCI Prepared Me for University and Beyond

It would be fairly accurate to say that my time at MUWCI was the best two years of my life. I made lasting friendships, had once-in-a-lifetime experiences, and met some of the most talented, kind, and hardworking people I know today. However, many people I have spoken with about MUWCI—especially brown parents—seem to think it is not a good option for "academically focused" students. I hope to counter that assumption. While emphasising extracurriculars, MUWCI still manages to provide a rich experience of academic rigour that matches the best Indian universities. Above all, MUWCI taught me how to think. Every time I came home after a semester, my father would remark, amazed, on how much my critical thinking had grown. This growth would have been impossible without attentive professors, talented peers, and strong mental health support on campus.

Beyond the Classroom

MUWCI focuses not just on passing along information, but on true learning and building a skill set you can use for the rest of your life. The effort professors put into teaching us analysis, research, and academic writing gave me tools that now help me excel at university—a transition that can otherwise be jarring and unfamiliar for many fresh out of high school. My social science-focused courses have supported me and many others in our law school journeys at highly rigorous legal institutions. MUWCI made me fall in love with academia—an experience not everyone is lucky enough to have. It wasn’t all cupcakes and rainbows; everyone knows the IB diploma is incredibly demanding. But I can say without a doubt that even my most challenging times at MUWCI were some of the best times of my life, and if I could, I would do it all again in a heartbeat. I grew exponentially at MUWCI, and I am still growing thanks to the lasting impact it left on me.
